Gerry Waldron

Gerry Waldron is a local expert ecologist with over 40 years experience in the fields of environmental planning and field biology.  He has worked with all three levels of government and numerous organizations, and managed his own environmental consulting firm in Amherstburg Ontario.  In the early 1990s Gerry held the position of Conservation Biologist with ERCA and led the update to the Environmentally Significant Areas of the Essex Region program as well as the first Candidate Natural Heritage Site Inventory for the City of Windsor. Since that time Gerry has completed additional Natural Heritage Inventories for the Towns of LaSalle, Lakeshore and Tecumseh as well as for the Big Creek Watershed Plan which was undertaken in 2009.
As a Consulting Ecologist, Gerry is well respected within the community and consistently provides exemplary Environmental Impact Assessments for various development proposals, working closely with ERCA to ensure the significant natural features of the region are protected from negative impacts associated with development.   Gerry has been the author of several authoritative books on the flora of not only the Essex Region but of the trees within the Carolinian Canada life zone.  He continues to display unparalleled dedication to the conservation of natural resources within the Essex Region and his local expertise and knowledge of our region’s natural resources clearly identifies him as one of our region’s top experts on the natural environment.

There’s no question that Gerry Waldron has provided an unprecedented level of understanding of our region’s natural heritage and we are pleased to honour his life’s work as a Conservation Champion.
