Have you thought about how our rivers, streams, creeks, lakes, wetlands
and other waterways are all interconnected? People, plants and animals
all rely on clean water to live a healthy life. Consider how we can all
contribute towards protecting our natural environment.
Nature is all around us and we'd like to hear why you think it is important
to avoid pollution and what can be done about it! Submit an essay to the
Sunoco Earth Day 2008 Writing Contest. You can win a cool prize package,
and get your essay / picture published on www.erca.org! The topic is:
| You will be at school in Windsor-Essex County and will
be competing in one of four categories: |
Category One - kindergarten &
grade 1 |
Category Two - grades 2 & 3 |
Category Three - grades 4, 5 & 6 |
Category Four - grades 7 & 8 |
- Category One submissions may be a picture or a story.
- Categories Two, Three and Four should submit an essay of no more
than 700 words.
- The panel of judges will include an environment specialist, a journalist,
and a forester.
- The winning entry from each category will receive a cool prize package,
and be honoured for their achievement at Sunoco Earth Day at Malden
Park in Windsor, April 27, 2008.
- The top entry from each category will be published on Essex Region
Conservation Authority's website, www.erca.org.
Make sure you have a title page telling us the title of your essay, your
name, address, phone number, email address, your parent's name, what grade
you're in, and the name of your school. Good Luck! And remember,
